Wave Stretching

With summer over for another year, it’s that time for youth clubs to begin once more. Whether it be Brownies, Scouts or just a football club, the Wave Stretching teambuilding activity provides a great opener for children to get back into the swing of things…

What you need…

A facilitator (of course!) and a group of participants!

How to play Wave Stretching…

1. Participants to stand in a large circle.
2. The facilitator to pick one person at random to do a stretch of their choice, even if it’s simply putting a hand up!
3. Similar to a Mexican wave, participants need to mimic that exact stretch one by one until it comes full circle.
4. The person standing next in the circle must then repeat Step 3 and so on.

Skills utilised…

This teambuilding activity requires full co-operation with one another in order to grasp exactly what stretch to do!

Demonstration…

"My 8 year old son and his friends had a fabulous time at his Lego Party. They had to follow instructions to build a robot, which was well structured and focused. Then, they had to programme their robots and all the children were delighted and completely enthused. Finally, they raced their robots, which was a great way to apply their skills and engage in some competitive fun! The person running our session, Mia, was punctual, well organised and built up a wonderful rapport with the children. I was very impressed with Mia and the organisation of the activities. I would highly recommend."
